About the position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee our operations and lead our team to success at IHOP in Athens, GA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and hospitality management, with a proven ability to manage staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and drive business growth. This role requires exceptional leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all areas to achieve positive and consistent sales growth while meeting or exceeding company goals in all profit and loss categories.
  • Manage entire operation of restaurant during scheduled shifts, including daily decision making and consistent staff support.
  • Ensure positive and consistent guest interaction, proper scheduling, and planning while upholding standards.
  • Provide employees with consistent and appropriate feedback to facilitate their development and enhance the overall operation.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to the company's uniform standards.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Perform line checks in the galley throughout the shift to ensure proper specifications on weights, temperatures, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Ensure that the unit is properly staffed for all time periods to guarantee overall guest satisfaction.
  • Manage shift schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels during peak hours.
  • Interview, hire, and train the highest quality hourly candidates.
  • Conduct orientations to ensure a positive first step for all new hourly employees.
  • Prepare reports at end of shift, including Daily Sales Reports and Daily Labor controls.
  • Prepare food production checklists to ensure the proper implementation of all company recipes.
  • Implement food handling procedures to maintain health and safety standards.
  • Order food, small wares, uniforms, and other necessary products to maintain operational standards.
  • Identify operational opportunities and create plans to address them.
  • Approve and sign all food or beverage discounts.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Notify the Area Supervisor in the event of a guest or employee accident or injury.
  • Ensure proper company security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests, and company assets.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of all unit issues and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Project a favorable image of IHOP to promote its goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in hospitality management
  • Strong team management skills
  • Extensive experience in food service operations, including catering and hospitality management
  • Proficient in shift management
  • Excellent staff training capabilities
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations and best practices for safety compliance
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proven leadership abilities with strong decision-making skills
