About the position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling (P-O-L-C) functions of the facility. This role focuses on managing all aspects of the P-O-L-C framework to ensure the facility meets budget, revenue, and customer satisfaction standards. The General Manager will foster a customer-first environment and lead the staff to deliver innovative solutions while adhering to company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR to attract, recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing team.
  • Train and develop staff to meet company guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure continual, positive communication and feedback with staff, including timely delivery of annual Continuous Improvement Summaries (CIS).
  • Manage the team through an innovative, creative, inspirational leadership style.
  • Hold staff accountable with unbiased fairness to drive performance.
  • Create a highly engaged team environment that drives execution, innovation, productivity, and future leaders.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity in all interactions and decision-making.
  • Proactively manage performance of managers and staff to address opportunities quickly.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility, becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all process areas.
  • Recruit and maintain an appropriate number of sub-haulers for logistical requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations including county, state, EPA, OSHA, and DMV regulations.
  • Disseminate knowledge throughout the location to ensure transparency on company goals and initiatives.
  • Manage customer relationships with buyers, sellers, and internal customers.
  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps among the team and implement remedies.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the company's mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of leadership in the organization.
  • Support local or non-local CAT events as needed.
  • Understand and manage the assigned profit and loss statement, identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years as a manager or relevant experience, military experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving corporate goals.
  • Metric-driven with strong analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting change initiatives and helping teams adapt positively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adjust tone according to the audience.
