About the position

The General Manager at Moe's Southwest Grill is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that all guests have a satisfying dining experience. This role involves managing the development and performance of managers, shift leaders, and team members, while also focusing on optimizing profits through effective use of Sterling Systems. The General Manager must ensure that all areas of the restaurant are managed effectively to enhance guest satisfaction and profitability. In terms of guest service, the General Manager is tasked with achieving 100% guest satisfaction in quality, service, and cleanliness. If this goal is not met, the manager must respond to guest complaints and take necessary actions to convert dissatisfied guests into regular patrons. Personnel management is also a key responsibility, which includes providing direction to team members, maintaining staffing plans, conducting interviews, and offering ongoing feedback to develop team members. Performance reviews are conducted to establish and evaluate performance goals, fostering a work environment that is recognized as a desirable place to work in the community. Food safety and planning are critical components of this role, requiring the General Manager to be ServSafe certified and to enforce sanitary practices for food handling and cleanliness. The manager must maintain high scores on health inspections and ensure compliance with operational standards. Operational responsibilities include implementing security procedures, ensuring a safe environment, and managing effective shift operations. Financial responsibilities involve adhering to standards to increase sales and minimize costs, utilizing monthly P&L reports to identify areas for profitability improvement, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Community involvement is also emphasized, with the expectation to organize spirit nights and maintain a strong presence in the local community. The ideal candidate will possess a college degree (preferred but not required), previous restaurant experience, and strong computer skills. Personal qualities such as self-discipline, leadership ability, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant to ensure guest satisfaction and increased profitability.
  • Ensure 100% guest satisfaction in areas of Quality, Service & Cleanliness.
  • Respond to guest complaints and take actions to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide direction to team members regarding operational and procedural issues.
  • Maintain an accurate staffing needs plan for the restaurant.
  • Interview prospective employees and ensure proper staffing procedures are followed.
  • Develop team members by providing ongoing feedback and conducting performance reviews.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling and maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and operational standards, maintaining high inspection scores.
  • Manage food flow from ordering to serving to ensure quality and minimize waste.
  • Implement security procedures to protect guests and employees.
  • Complete necessary reports in case of injuries to guests or employees.
  • Analyze monthly P&L reports to identify areas for profitability improvement.
  • Book community spirit nights and maintain a strong local presence.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience is a must.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be ServSafe certified and certified as a Moe's Manager.
  • Knowledge of computers, specifically MS Word and Excel.
  • Self-discipline and strong initiative with leadership ability.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to multi-task.
