About the position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall performance of restaurant operations, ensuring high standards in customer service, food quality, and employee safety. This role involves planning, organizing, and leading the restaurant team to achieve sales, profitability, and guest satisfaction objectives while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant operations.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and food quality.
  • Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints.
  • Communicate with guests and employees to solve problems and ensure satisfaction.
  • Inspect dining and food preparation areas for health and safety compliance.
  • Supervise cleaning and maintenance of equipment and arrange for repairs.
  • Maintain appropriate restaurant image and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure safety practices for employees and guests are followed.
  • Plan and coordinate scheduling for all restaurant departments.
  • Prepare required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules.
  • Assist in developing and executing marketing and promotional activities.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and operational standards.
  • Manage restaurant inventories and ensure product availability.
  • Control cash and receipts, adhering to cash handling procedures.
  • Review financial information and monitor budgets to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational issues.
  • Conduct interviews, hiring, and training of staff.
  • Develop employees through feedback and performance reviews.
  • Lead weekly team management meetings and communicate operational aspects.

Requirements

  • Two to three years of restaurant management experience or one year as a Benihana manager with good performance.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of computers, specifically MS Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license where applicable.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Agreement to background check.
  • ServSafe certification preferred.

  • ServSafe certified alcohol service certification preferred.
