About the position

The General Manager at Caribou Coffee is responsible for leading the store's culture and overall direction, ensuring team engagement, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. This role focuses on maximizing sales and traffic growth while embodying the Caribou purpose of creating day-making experiences. The General Manager is a community leader and an inspiration to the team, committed to the core values of Team, Guest, and Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the DOING of an Assistant General Manager with ease, enthusiasm, and excellence.
  • Models, upholds, and implements Caribou policies, practices, and standards.
  • Ensures the store is fully staffed for upcoming shifts and writes timely and effective schedules.
  • Owns the entire recruiting process including job posts, sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Keeps the team engaged and energized through effective communication and training.
  • Ensures overall safety of Team Members and Guests.
  • Coaches, trains, and develops the team to foster a culture of growth and career progression.
  • Delivers proactive coaching conversations and feedback to support the team.
  • Exemplifies incredible guest experience and trains the team to provide best-in-class service.
  • Takes ownership of Guest Satisfaction metrics and handles guest complaints effectively.
  • Acts as the business owner, taking full ownership of the store's success and team performance.
  • Executes food safety and sanitization standards, ensuring health and safety in the store.
  • Understands P&L to build financial plans and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Creates energy and focus on meeting and exceeding sales goals.
  • Demonstrates efficient inventory control and waste management.
  • Ensures a quality guest experience by driving fast and friendly service.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of restaurant, retail, or guest service management experience.
  • Experience with sales building, P&L statements, recruiting, and training.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • ServSafe Certified preferred or certification within 90-days of employment.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
