About the position

The General Manager at 5 Senses Hospitality is responsible for leading the hotel team to provide exceptional hospitality experiences while ensuring operational excellence. This role involves strategic planning, team development, and maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety. The General Manager will drive revenue, manage expenses, and foster a positive work environment that promotes inclusivity and respect among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to provide professional, efficient, courteous, and genuine hospitality.
  • Oversee the overall direction, coordination, leadership, and communication to all departments.
  • Establish short-term and long-term goals with department heads to ensure hotel success.
  • Ensure security, cleanliness, preventative maintenance, and safety are completed to property and brand standards.
  • Develop and execute an effective communication plan for team members, guests, and ownership.
  • Drive team member satisfaction by creating an inclusive and respectful work environment.
  • Maintain good business and community relationships to benefit the property's positioning.
  • Lead the annual planning process including sales and marketing plans, operating budgets, and human capital plans.
  • Complete periodic reporting as required by Corporate, Ownership, and the Brand.
  • Drive revenue and control expenses with full P&L management responsibility.
  • Forecast accurate revenues, expenses, and GOP, updating as needed based on changing business.
  • Monitor Brand Service Scores and take appropriate actions to maintain scores above the Brand average.
  • Ensure compliance with best practice operating policies and procedures according to property and Brand standards.
  • Provide informal and formal feedback to team members in alignment with performance development policies.
  • Maintain a succession plan for leadership positions and support team members' development.
  • Execute a Manager on Duty program to ensure high-level leadership for guests and team members.
  • Encourage collaboration between departments to meet guest and team needs effectively.
  • Hold managers accountable for team attendance at mandatory meetings and training.

Requirements

  • 3 years of General Manager experience in Hospitality.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Progressive experience and development in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; a second language is a plus.
  • Financial skills including P&L and budget management, expense control, and forecasting.
  • Proven success as a leader delivering outstanding guest experiences and team development.
  • Ability for complex conceptual thinking and creative problem solving.
  • Strategic leadership with the ability to adapt to an ever-changing business environment.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
