About the position

The Mechanical Engineer at Butterball, LLC is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex industrial production machinery within a large turkey processing facility. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the efficient operation of equipment. The engineer will work under the supervision of senior engineers and will be expected to communicate effectively with plant operations to maintain safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Monitor equipment, diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform timely repairs on mechanical equipment.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on various machinery in the facility.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools and precision instruments for maintenance tasks.
• Interpret work orders and specifications to determine maintenance needs.
• Carry out routine inspections of equipment and systems following established procedures.
• Recognize and diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions.
• Develop a general understanding of the mechanical systems required to operate the facility.
• Follow food and workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with plant operations to ensure safe and efficient machinery operation.
• Work independently to make decisions under supervision.
• Multi-task and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
• Direct clearly and concisely with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform any other duties assigned at management's discretion.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Ability to solve problems using theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
