About the position

The General Mechanical Engineer at Butterball, LLC is responsible for applying engineering principles to maintain and repair complex industrial production machinery in a large turkey processing facility. This role involves routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical systems while adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor equipment, diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform timely repairs on various mechanical equipment in the facility.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on industrial production machinery.
• Proficiently use a variety of common hand and power tools and precision instruments for maintenance tasks.
• Interpret work orders and specifications to determine maintenance needs of machines and equipment.
• Carry out routine inspections of equipment and systems, following established procedures and checklists.
• Recognize and diagnose mechanical problems by interpreting blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Develop a general understanding of the mechanical systems required to operate the facility.
• Communicate effectively with plant operations to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.
• Work independently under supervision to make decisions regarding maintenance tasks.
• Multi-task and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Ability to solve problems using theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
