About the position

The General Paralegal position involves providing professional paralegal support to the Office of General Counsel (OGC), assisting with legal research, document preparation, and litigation support. The role requires the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities while producing high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for legal advice.
  • Research and locate responsive information documents and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles.
  • Perform moderately complex legal research and summarize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Review case-related materials and identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.
  • Assist in preparing draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
  • Conduct legal analysis and review documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Prepare privilege logs and maintain documentation of records produced in discovery.
  • Assist in drafting and issuing preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Design, generate, and transmit reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Minimum of two years of litigation paralegal experience with trial experience.
  • Successful completion of a Paralegal degree or certificate.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Experience performing legal research and writing.
  • Experience preparing legal memoranda and correspondence.
  • Experience assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation, including discovery requests and responses.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Hands-on familiarity with various computer applications, including databases and spreadsheets.
