About the position

The General Production Manager (GPM) at Foster Farms is responsible for overseeing various departments within the plant, ensuring that company goals and standards related to quality, yield, productivity, cost, and safety are met. This role involves developing and training supervisors and team members, providing timely feedback to management, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee various departments to meet company goals and standards on quality, yield, productivity, cost, and safety.
  • Develop and train supervisors and team members according to company policies.
  • Provide quick and timely feedback to the Plant/Shift Manager on productivity, downtime, quality, yield, cost, and safety.
  • Manage corrections in areas that are out of acceptable parameters.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations including USDA, SSOP, HACCP, and OSHA safety programs.
  • Administer safety orientations, training, and meetings to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participate in department meetings for planning and development of techniques/processes.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of company assets and recommend necessary acquisitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the poultry processing industry with progressively increased responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate supervision fairly and objectively.
  • Strong leadership skills and internal drive to succeed.
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust quickly to a changing work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to make independent decisions.
