About the position

The General Sales Manager at Vandergriff Chevrolet is responsible for leading the sales team at the dealership. This role involves assessing team performance, forecasting vehicle sales, setting departmental goals, and collaborating with other departments to enhance sales strategies. The manager will also be involved in hiring and training new team members, structuring car deals, and negotiating with customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate vehicle sales forecasts, gross and operating profits, and manage departmental expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to create and implement sales and lease promotions, staffing, and compensation plans.
  • Oversee Sales Managers and work with them to meet objectives for gross sales and profits, including leading weekly Sales meetings and managing training programs.
  • Determine appropriate level of vehicle inventory based on sales figures and projections.
  • Review and audit all appraisals of trade-in vehicles.
  • Manage all customer complaints and feedback to understand Sales team performance and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction in all auto sales to increase retention and referrals to drive repeat car sales.
  • Keep an accurate record of existing and prospective customers within the CRM platform to effectively guide sales processes.
  • Facilitate new-vehicle pre-delivery and used vehicle reconditioning with the service manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive sales management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred).
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CRM systems and CDK (preferred).
