About the position

The General Sales Manager is a key leadership role within a growing Automotive Group, responsible for overseeing the sales operations of both new and used vehicles. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, ethical standards, and the ability to create a positive sales environment. The General Sales Manager will lead a team, manage profitability, and ensure that sales targets are met while fostering a culture of training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Identify coaching needs and promote training opportunities
  • Hire, mentor, and monitor the performance of department managers
  • Set an example of professionalism through actions and appearance
  • Ensure target revenues are met or exceeded
  • Responsible for managing profitability in both the new and pre-owned vehicle departments
  • Assist in developing and managing an effective advertising and marketing plan
  • Responsible for developing a productive relationship throughout the dealership
  • Be the biggest promoter of customer service index (CSI) throughout the dealership
  • Maintain a positive and ethical working relationship with all employees, manufacturers, lenders, vendors, and customers

Requirements

  • Proven track record of achieving goals

  • Professional appearance and work ethics
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Experience in a dealership for at least 1 year
