About the position

The General Sales Manager at LeadCar Honda Hamburg is responsible for overseeing customer retention and profitability across all dealership variable operations, including finance and vehicle sales. This role emphasizes effective personnel management, market knowledge, and adherence to performance standards to drive dealership success. The position requires a commitment to maintaining high professional standards and fostering a positive work environment while leading a team to achieve sales and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates exemplary integrity and serves as a role model for trust and honesty.
  • Maintains a positive and supportive work environment for team members.
  • Acts as a Desking Manager for new vehicle transactions and backs up used car transactions.
  • Represents the dealership at functions and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and monitors performance of sales and finance personnel.
  • Directs staffing and training for sales and finance departments.
  • Monitors productivity and performance of staff with monthly evaluations.
  • Administers factory-sponsored programs and serves as a liaison between departments.
  • Participates in preparing the annual dealership forecast for sales and profits.
  • Works with finance personnel to establish sales and profit objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and General Manager on lead optimization and advertising tracking.
  • Understands dealership policies and sales systems.
  • Works with General Manager on vehicle inventory management.
  • Establishes standards for vehicle display and merchandising.
  • Implements procedures for quick disposal of over-aged vehicles.
  • Audits repair orders for used vehicles to ensure prompt reconditioning.
  • Meets with General Manager to review forecasts and performance reports.
  • Studies local market conditions and makes recommendations for advertising and promotions.
  • Conducts major sales promotions and advertising as needed.
  • Approves sales incentives before submission to accounting.
  • Addresses customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Creates systems for ongoing sales training and conducts weekly meetings.
  • Audits appraisals of trade-in vehicles and attends auctions monthly.
  • Reviews all deals before posting and facilitates new vehicle pre-delivery with the Service Manager.
  • Ensures the facility is secure and professional in appearance.
  • Ensures sales personnel meet training certification levels and maintains a Pennsylvania sales license.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of supervisory experience in the automotive industry required.
  • Honda and DealerTrack experience preferred.
  • Previous experience selling and scheduling automotive service work required.
  • Previous experience managing parts inventory preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and proven skills in leading and motivating a team.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and challenges.
  • Proven ability to manage time, resources, and competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
