About the position

The General Trades Mechanic position at Four Seasons Environmental, Inc. involves maintaining and repairing various building structures and equipment, primarily focusing on woodwork. The role requires the ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions to plan and execute maintenance tasks effectively. The mechanic will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors. Additionally, the position entails using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets, and painting structures and equipment. The mechanic will also be tasked with repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, as well as hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken window panes. General maintenance on equipment and machinery is also a critical part of the job. The position requires physical strength, as the mechanic must be able to routinely lift up to 75 lbs. This is a union contract position, and the successful candidate will report directly to the O&M Foreman. The role demands a rounded training and experience typically acquired through an apprenticeship or equivalent training. Employees may also be subject to immunization and testing requirements as per client and company policies, and they must meet federal credentialing processes to access the facility. This may include obtaining a facility access card and fulfilling ongoing training requirements. Participation in the select agent program, which involves additional background investigations and training, is also a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, casings, and trim made of wood.
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Select necessary materials for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paint structures and equipment as needed.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken window panes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general trades or related field.
  • Rounded training and experience usually acquired through apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs routinely.
  • Must meet immunization and testing requirements as per client and company policies.
  • Must comply with federal credentialing processes to access the facility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a BSL3 environment.
  • Familiarity with the select agent program.
