About the position

As a Senior HR Manager at Compass Group, you will play a pivotal role in supporting various Human Resource functions to achieve strategic, tactical, and administrative HR objectives. Your ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management and across different support departments is crucial. You will leverage your knowledge of employee relations and strong analytical skills to support HR initiatives and lead a dedicated team. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure that all company HR-related policies are applied consistently across the organization. You will provide leadership in navigating union agreements and addressing employee grievances, ensuring that associates and management are coached through complex issues. Your guidance will be essential in determining appropriate disciplinary actions and assisting with on-site investigations. In addition to overseeing recruitment and onboarding processes, you will maintain and coordinate associate recognition programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws. Regularly reviewing HR activity reports and supporting internal customer surveys will be part of your responsibilities, as will attending department manager meetings to enhance HR visibility. You will conduct classroom training sessions and implement various HR initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture. Your role will also involve reviewing requests for pay increases and status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency, as well as preparing and presenting HR-related training topics. As a diversity champion, you will lead corporate diversity activities, focusing on diversity recruiting, retention, and promotion goals. You will assist in creating Personal Development Plans for associates and participate in the Annual Performance Appraisal process, ensuring that all HR functions align with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all Company HR related policies are applied consistently.
  • Provide leadership within union agreements and employee grievances.
  • Objectively coaches associates and management through complex and difficult issues.
  • Provides guidance to management on appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Assists with on-site investigations.
  • Oversees recruitment and onboarding.
  • Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • Regularly runs and/or reviews HR activity reports.
  • Supports internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback process.
  • Attends department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conducts classroom training, provides assistance and implements HR initiatives.
  • Reviews any request for pay increases or other status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency.
  • Processes status change forms.
  • Prepares, coordinates and presents HR related topics and other HR related training.
  • Acts as the diversity champion by leading assigned tasks and corporate diversity activities including diversity recruiting, retention and promotion goals.
  • Assists in the creation of Personal Development Plans, as appropriate, for associates.
  • Participates in the Annual Performance Appraisal process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
  • Three plus years human resources generalist experience and direct employee management required.
  • HR experience at a large, multi-unit organization required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Content-knowledge regarding employment law, policies, procedures, union agreements, and programs.
  • Experience in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Strong presentation skills required.
