About the position

The Entry Level Engineer position at Xcel Energy is designed to develop technical expertise in a specific area of engineering. This role involves performing work on conventional plans, investigations, and equipment with limited complexity, under the supervision of higher-level engineers. The successful candidate will engage in various engineering activities, support project documentation, and may lead small projects while gaining proficiency in engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Use and apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities/assignments of limited scope.
• Support the development of technical documentation including designs, testing, calculations, and reports.
• Provide ongoing technical support for project activities in areas such as Operations, Maintenance, and Testing.
• May provide field engineering oversight for activities such as commissioning and inspections under direct supervision.
• Coordinate or lead projects or portions of projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor.
• Support bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation.
• Effectively communicate with other business areas of the company and with outside customers/vendors.
• Coordinate the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Responsible for continuous self-development of technical skills and competencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum (mechanical engineering preferred).
• 0+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies established by the organization.

Nice-to-haves

• EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred.
