About the position

The Generative AI ML Engineer at PayPal will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement machine learning and generative AI solutions that enhance processes and drive innovation. This role is part of the AI/ML Platforms and Solutions Organization, focusing on building advanced AI systems that create real-world impact by automating and optimizing workflows for developers and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Define and build innovative ML and Generative AI systems.
• Design and develop ML Engineering Solutions & generative AI Applications ensuring scalability, efficiency, and maintainability.
• Write clean, high-performance, high-quality, maintainable code.
• Discover, analyze, structure, and mine data.
• Implement prompt engineering techniques to fine-tune and enhance LLMs for better performance.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Generative AI and contribute to research and development of new solutions.

Requirements

• A master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Machine Learning, with the last 1-2 years focused on Generative AI solutions.
• Proven experience as a Full Stack ML Engineer, focusing on Machine Learning and Generative AI Applications.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control systems and testing methodologies.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with various Embeddings/Embedding Models and fine-tuning LLMs.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly.
