About the position

The Generator Application Engineering Leader at GE Vernova will lead a global Application Engineering team while also executing tenders. The role focuses on providing technical proposals and engineering effort estimations during the ITO phase for various engineering tasks related to Own Fleet Capital Parts and complex upgrades. The position emphasizes operational excellence, technology innovation, and standardization within the team, with success measured by customer satisfaction and adherence to safety, compliance, and budgetary constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical proposals for Generator CM&U for stator rewinds, field rewinds, replacement fields, uprate studies, reliability studies, and others.
  • Attend R1 calls to determine customer technical needs.
  • Determine the hardware scope of supply, electromagnetic performance uprate coordination, input data for cycle and costing, and create a technical portion of the commercial proposal.
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as Commercial Operations, Sales, Design Engineering, Service Managers, Manufacturing, Supply chain, Project Management, Field Service, and other groups.
  • Know the capabilities of each of the GE workshops.
  • Support and coordinate external customer meetings and resolve customer technical questions and issues.
  • Perform the Tender Engineering process steps of Technical risk assessment (TRA) - delivering a Technical Risk List (TRL), Tender Design Re (TDR) and R2 summary.
  • Support the training and development of global team members.
  • Continuous improvement of proposal basics with feedback from execution.
  • Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders, offering new solutions to problems outside of set parameters.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' opinions on particular topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 5+ years of combined experience in mechanical engineering of turbomachinery or power plant components, technical field services, repairs, plant operations services, or a related technical function.
  • Several years of experience in tendering activities ranging from typical transactional service business to complex upgrades.
  • Proven competence and experience in customer negotiation activities.
  • Leadership experience, preferably in an international setup.
  • Able to travel regionally or globally as needed.
