About the position

The Generator Service Technician at National Power, LLC is responsible for the maintenance and repair of generator sets and other electrical equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring generators operate efficiently and meet code requirements. The technician will work under the direction of the CISVC Service Manager and may be required to travel to various job sites, often working from home while managing company property and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair on generators and parallel systems ranging from 5-5000kw.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Automatic Transfer Switches, including bypass isolation and closed transition types.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance service, including oil and filter changes.
  • Troubleshoot AC and DC circuits and replace components as necessary.
  • Perform warranty work per manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Conduct start-up/commissioning on new generators and generator systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel or gaseous engines, including ignition components and injection systems.
  • Perform load bank testing on generators to ensure proper operating conditions.
  • Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs or complicated troubleshooting issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical related field preferred.
  • Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
  • Experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician's Mate, or Generator and/or UPS field service technician preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for verbal and written reports.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Good computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft software including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with load bank testing procedures.
  • Ability to manage difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
