About the position

The Genset Field Technician position at K&R Operating is a full-time role focused on performing maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on various diesel engines, generators, and compressors. Technicians will work on-site, primarily in the South Louisiana Business unit, following a 7 & 7 schedule in inland water. The role emphasizes teamwork, technical skill development, and adherence to company policies while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled tasks including maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on diesel engines, generators, and compressors.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose compressor system failures and optimize equipment performance.
• Comply with company and customer policies and procedures.
• Complete appropriate paperwork as directed.
• Continually develop skills in line with technological advances in the industry.
• Work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
• Present a professional image to customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three to five years of engine and compressor maintenance experience.
• Proficient in compressor and engine maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of surface production equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and mechanical control problems.
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools and possess a full set of hand tools as defined by company standards.
• Willingness to travel for crew changes.
• Good customer-relation skills.
• General computer skills for diagnostic purposes.

Nice-to-haves

• Formal vocational training preferred.
• Experience with emissions controls, control panels, and I&E systems.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar and Waukesha engines, as well as Ariel and GE gas compressors.
