About the position

The Geographer/Geodesist position at the US Geological Survey involves serving as a National Space Policy Liaison within the National Civil Applications Center. The role focuses on supporting the Department of the Interior's (DOI) interests in space-based positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) policy, facilitating interagency collaboration, and engaging with various stakeholders to advance national security initiatives related to PNT and space policy.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing.
  • Support DOI's equities on behalf of the NLI Program Coordinator and senior leaders.
  • Identify and establish interagency working groups to advance collaboration in PNT and space policy.
  • Facilitate the development of new applications leveraging data from the DoD, Intelligence Community, and Federal Civil agencies.
  • Engage with researchers and policy officers to understand PNT-related intelligence and support collaborative opportunities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS-SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in geography or related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in geography.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Intelligence community.
  • Prior experience working with the US Space Force or Global Navigation Satellite Systems.
