About the position

The GIS Data Engineer role at 3-GIS involves designing and coordinating the integration of client data into GIS databases. The position requires expertise in various tools and programming languages to support data migrations, perform data analysis, and maintain existing databases. The role also includes providing technical expertise and documentation to users, with the flexibility of telecommuting from any location in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design or coordinate the mapping and integration of client data into GIS databases.
• Support GIS data migrations and conversions from disparate systems into GIS data models.
• Review existing or incoming data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
• Perform data analysis and development for GIS application databases.
• Maintain existing databases and research future enhancements.
• Write and maintain documentation for user references.
• Design, develop, and test data extraction and migration processes.
• Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Provide technical expertise in GIS technology to clients and project teams.

Requirements

• BS in Geographic Information Science, Geographic Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems.
• Two years of experience in GIS data mapping and analysis using Python, SQL, FME workbenches, and ArcGIS Pro.
• Alternatively, an MS in Geographic Information Science, Geographic Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems with completion of relevant GIS courses and no experience.
