About The Position
The Geologist position at Capstone Mining is a full-time role based at the Pinto Valley Mine in Miami, AZ. Reporting directly to the Senior Geologist, the Geologist is tasked with ensuring that ore control activities are in alignment with the daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans. This involves providing accurate and timely Geo-Mining-Metallurgical information regarding geological resources. The role demands strict adherence to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), industry best practices, and regulatory standards to ensure the safety of both the workforce and contractors at the mine. In this position, the Geologist will continuously update the block model and other geological models by capturing geological data from open-pit operations. This includes determining material destinations and ensuring that the ore control Block Model remains current. The Geologist will collaborate with various internal departments such as Geology, Sampling, Mine Engineering, Surveying, Mine Operations, Metallurgy, and Corporate Technical Services, as well as external contractors and vendors. The Geologist will also be responsible for managing and controlling the acQuire database, utilizing software such as Vulcan and Leapfrog for short-term 3D geological modeling, and ensuring the quality of geological information through mapping of the pit and production advancement. The role includes scheduling and implementing sampling, logging, and quality assurance/quality control (QAQC) of blast hole samples, estimating and delivering ore control models, and coordinating logistics with Operations and Planning to ensure compliance with mining plans.
