About the position

The Geologist position at Actalent involves conducting fieldwork and overseeing various environmental assessment and remediation activities. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in geology and environmental science, with a focus on soil and groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, and data analysis using AutoCAD and GIS applications. Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork including soil, soil gas, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling.
  • Oversee drilling and contractor activities.
  • Operate and maintain remediation treatment systems.
  • Log soil borings and install monitoring wells.
  • Perform aquifer testing and groundwater monitoring.
  • Prepare soil boring and well construction logs.
  • Evaluate chemical and hydrogeological data, including mapping and reporting.
  • Analyze data and manage databases, preparing tables, maps, and figures using AutoCAD and GIS applications.
  • Design and implement sampling plans, pilot test designs, and bench scale testing programs for contamination assessment.
  • Perform remediation system operation and maintenance services.
  • Conduct remedy evaluation, cost estimating, design, and implementation.
  • Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Transaction Screening Assessments.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and other business development activities.

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Geology (Geology preferred)
  • 2-3 years of remediation experience
  • Experience with soil boring, groundwater sampling, and report writing
  • Ability to obtain professional certification (P.E., P.G., or CHMM)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and/or GIS
  • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation
  • Ability to work in the field and occasionally overnight travel

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with geotechnical drilling
