About the position

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is offering a full-time internship for college students interested in gaining practical experience while supporting initiatives to conserve and sustain Pennsylvania's natural resources. This role focuses on data management related to groundwater and geological hazards, providing an opportunity to engage in fieldwork and assist professional geologists.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribing, copying, and scanning documents.
  • Researching and entering or updating data files into relational databases.
  • Interpreting data related to groundwater and geological hazards.
  • Assisting staff geologists in fieldwork and other geological tasks.

Requirements

  • Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in Geology/Geosciences, Environmental Science, Geography/Earth Science, or a related field.
  • Completion of freshman year with a good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license that is not under suspension.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in geology or geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Familiarity with the MS Windows operating environment.
