About the position

The Geoscientist position at the Department of Environmental Protection's Land Recycling Section involves addressing hydrogeologic challenges, particularly groundwater contamination. The role is crucial for evaluating technical aspects of work plans and reports, contributing to environmental science, and protecting the planet.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate hydrogeologic, geologic, and technical aspects of work plans and reports.
• Analyze proposals and designs related to groundwater, soil, surface water, air, and sediment sampling plans.
• Perform feasibility and treatability studies and review groundwater pump test proposals and designs.
• Assess Land Recycling report submissions and conduct field inspections.
• Collect, compile, organize, and analyze field, laboratory, and historical data, including lithologic and well construction logs.
• Provide information and guidance to industry representatives, consultants, elected officials, and the public regarding Act 2 regulations.

Requirements

• One year as a Geoscience Trainee or equivalent experience.
• Possession of an active Geologist-in-Training certificate and one year of professional geology experience.
• One year of professional geology experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field with 30 college credits in geologic coursework.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 30 college credits in geologic coursework.
• Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license.
