About the position

The Geospatial Database Engineer / Database Developer will work as part of a Scrum Team at the Texas Department of Transportation, focusing on Oracle Spatial and PL/SQL development. This role involves completing user stories, addressing bugs, and managing technical debt while ensuring database performance and security. The position requires collaboration with team members to integrate code into Azure DevOps and assist with data modeling and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a Scrum Team
  • Complete user stories, bugs, and technical debt
  • Review, update, and develop PL/SQL including LRS and other Oracle Spatial operations
  • Integrate PL/SQL code into Azure DevOps code repository
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements and features
  • Perform data modeling, prototyping, and maintain data dictionary
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Help resolve database-related security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Assist with required reporting as established by the client

Requirements

  • Experience with Oracle Spatial (dynamic segmentation, LRS, SDO)
  • Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Azure DevOps, GIT)
  • Experience with SQL Developer or similar IDEs
  • Knowledge of Esri ArcSDE integration with Oracle Spatial

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (project management, user stories/bugs/test cases)
  • Familiarity with Eclipse
  • Understanding of Agile methodology
