About the position

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a mid-level Geostructural Project Engineer to support its national practice. The role involves leading complex geostructural projects, developing engineering scopes, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position offers opportunities for professional growth in technical, project management, and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, management, and execution of complex geostructural projects.
  • Develop engineering scope of work and cost estimates.
  • Check design calculations and for-construction drawings and specifications for geostructural projects.
  • Provide design support during construction.
  • Oversee construction observation of specialty geotechnical works and foundation construction.
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline and multi-location internal and external teams.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee junior staff during design and construction phases.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Perform field work and travel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural or geotechnical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience in structural and/or geotechnical engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineering license.
  • Familiarity with risk management and preparation of risk registers, slope stability and remediation, and/or business development is a plus.
  • Basic understanding and working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective time management and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of both geotechnical and structural engineering.
