About the position

BHI Energy is seeking a Geotechnical/Civil CMT Project Engineer to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. This position is a direct hire opportunity that plays a crucial role in our engineering department, focusing on power generation and electrical delivery systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external clients, ensuring that project goals are met while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. The role requires leadership of technical teams, preparation of proposals for complex projects, and the execution of comprehensive engineering reports that provide practical geotechnical solutions. As a Project Engineer, you will manage various projects, overseeing their scope, schedule, and budget. You will perform engineering analyses using established methodologies and standards, while also mentoring junior engineering staff to foster their professional growth. Compliance with corporate health and safety policies is paramount, and you will be expected to uphold these standards in all aspects of your work. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships, including project and non-project related face-to-face meetings.
  • Leadership of a technical or project related team.
  • Prepare proposals for moderate to complex projects.
  • Develop and execute whole scopes and prepare engineering reports giving professional opinions and practical geotechnical solutions.
  • Manage projects (scope, schedule, budget).
  • Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies and standards.
  • Mentor junior level engineering staff.
  • Understand and work in compliance with corporate health and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in geotechnical, civil, or related engineering required.
  • Master's degree (MS) in geotechnical, civil, or related engineering preferred.
  • Three or more years of geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing project management experience.
  • Experience managing client relationships, vendor management, and leading a team preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration/licensure in KS, or ability to attain within 6 to 12 months.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds on a periodic basis.
