The Geotechnical Engineer 2 position at American Engineering Testing, Inc. involves coordinating and completing project testing services by applying engineering principles to solve specific problems. Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or supervise testing, investigations, and evaluations, focusing on complex projects.
  • Manage medium-to-large scope and/or medium-to-large risk projects from proposal to completion.
  • Prepare formal engineering reports with recommendations.
  • Lead inter-office and/or inter-department project teams.
  • Coordinate and assign staff for testing and other services.
  • Critically review, edit, and sign technical reports and correspondence of other staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and technologies in the field.
  • Prepare proposals and perform marketing duties to meet department and company goals.
  • Assist in coaching and training junior staff and perform performance appraisals of Technicians and lower-level engineers and geologists.
  • Anticipate, recognize, and manage risk/liability while working on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or applicable field with 5 or more years of related experience, OR an advanced degree in applicable field with 3 or more years of related experience.
  • Professional registration with one or more state licensing board.
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles within pavement and geotechnical areas and ability to apply that knowledge to the job.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to develop and implement creative/innovative solutions to a wide range of problems.
  • Advanced experience using personal computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated skill in cultivating and managing external relationships to generate business development opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with coworkers and clients.
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people and work effectively within project teams.
