Actalent is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Technician, specifically a Driller Helper, who is eager to learn and grow in the field of geotechnical drilling. This position involves working under the supervision of the Geotechnical Drilling Crew Leader and participating in various drilling operations. The technician will be primarily engaged in operating an auger/rotary drilling machine, assisting the driller in the field with tasks such as soil boring, soil sampling, monitoring well installations, and rock coring. The role requires the technician to handwrite report findings and collect as well as sort field samples for laboratory analysis. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for replacing drill augers and performing other duties as directed by the lead driller. The position may require travel up to 25% of the year throughout the state of Kansas, providing opportunities to work in diverse locations. The job is physically demanding, as it involves lifting and pushing weights of 75 pounds or more. Most of the work will be conducted outdoors, which requires the technician to be comfortable with varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
