About the position

The Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Engineer position at Geosyntec involves applying instrumentation and monitoring skills to various civil and geotechnical projects, including dams, landfills, and construction sites. The role focuses on both technical and business development aspects, aiming to enhance the engineer's consulting career while contributing to impactful projects that address environmental and infrastructure challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical and environmental field investigations
  • Design, install and manage instrumentation and monitoring systems including instruments, data loggers, and telemetry
  • Develop, implement, and manage data management solutions
  • Evaluate instrumentation data and provide recommendations based on the measurements
  • Manage long term instrumentation and monitoring projects
  • Perform engineering calculations and review data using traditional or computer-based technical tools
  • Support design, permitting, and construction quality assurance for various non-instrumentation and monitoring projects
  • Review and interpret geotechnical data such as boring logs and laboratory test results
  • Develop construction documents including specifications, drawings, and work plans
  • Prepare and review instrumentation and monitoring and engineering reports
  • Support proposal preparation, managing projects and tasks, and supporting business and staff development efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required)
  • At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
  • Experience with instrumentation and monitoring tools such as inclinometers, vibrating wire instruments, and data loggers (preferred)
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.) (preferred)
