About the position
The Principal Geotechnical Engineer at ECS Ltd is a leadership role focused on guiding teams in geotechnical engineering projects. This position involves overseeing project engineers and managers, providing mentorship, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical work. The role includes serving as the final reviewer on complex geotechnical reports and providing advanced technical oversight on major projects, including high-rises and infrastructure. The Principal Engineer will also engage in business development and client interactions, contributing to the growth and success of the department.
Responsibilities
- Oversee project engineers and managers, providing mentorship and direction.
- Serve as the final reviewer on complex geotechnical reports.
- Provide advanced technical oversight on major projects.
- Host or attend project meetings with clients and ECS staff to provide technical solutions.
- Mentor Associate Principals and participate in the review committee for candidates seeking Associate Principal designation.
- Oversee projects and perform technical report reviews.
- Prepare and review proposals for projects.
- Assist with management of the department and P&L.
- Engage in business development and maintain client interactions.
- Assist hiring managers in staffing decisions.
- Lead and coach junior staff members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar.
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- 12 years of related experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Designation as a senior reviewer at a previous firm is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) license required in the states of work.
- Strong understanding of AASHTO specifications and geotechnical design manuals.
- Experience with industry-standard software such as gINT, LPILE, GRLWEAP, PLAXIS.
