About the position

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you will manage and execute geotechnical engineering services across Kentucky and neighboring states, focusing on subsurface explorations, slope stability evaluations, and construction support for various civil infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to enhance your technical expertise and project management skills while contributing to innovative projects that have a significant impact on the community.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and synthesize intricate geotechnical laboratory test results and field data.
• Apply robust geotechnical engineering principles to perform analyses for shallow foundations, deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement.
• Offer recommendations for ground improvement where necessary.
• Regularly communicate with subcontractors and external clients.
• Assist in training junior staff and contribute to business development efforts for S&ME.
• Write reports, prepare proposals, and actively participate in marketing and business development pursuits.
• Lead by example, actively supporting internal policies and practices, including health and safety, risk management, project management, and quality management.
• Prioritize and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Actively participate in professional organizations to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years work experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
