About the position

The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) position at Amergis involves providing direct patient care to geriatric patients in a nursing home setting. The role requires performing various individualized patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring the comfort and personal needs of the residents are met. This is a travel assignment with a contract length of 4 weeks, with the possibility of extension, and offers multiple shift options.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality of all residents
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living and feeding
  • Performs transfers and lifts per facility protocol
  • Completes timely and thorough documentation in the facility EMR charting system
  • Provides support and companionship to patients
  • Assists residents with use of assistive devices
  • Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures
  • Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings or conditions
  • Cleans and organizes patient rooms
  • Assists with putting away residents laundry and belongings
  • Assists nurse with admission and discharge/s to unit
  • Prepares patients for appointments or transfers

Requirements

  • Active CNA with Geriatric Certification
  • Experience with memory care patients preferred
  • One year of geriatric nursing assistant experience as a certified nursing assistant within the last three years
  • Graduate from certified nursing assistant program with documentation as a certified nursing assistant per state requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clerical functions
  • Current CPR certification
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language
  • Computer proficiency
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
