This role involves direct interaction with customers in various settings, including residential areas, sales offices, store showrooms, and home offices. The representative will actively cultivate relationships with existing clients while seeking out new opportunities to expand the customer base. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are essential to this position. Management may assign additional duties as necessary. Regularly travels throughout the designated territory to connect with existing and potential customers. This includes visiting retail outlets, garden centers, and wholesale distributors to foster relationships and identify their needs. Engages with vendors and customers via phone or in-person meetings to provide comprehensive information about products and answer any inquiries. Effectively showcases products using samples and catalogs to illustrate their features and benefits, helping customers make informed purchasing decisions. Accurately estimates and communicates delivery dates to customers, ensuring timely fulfillment of orders. Prepares detailed reports of business transactions and customer feedback, providing insights that can drive improvements in service and product offerings. Quotes competitive prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained, ensuring clarity and compliance with company policies. Acts as a mediator between customers and the collections team to resolve issues related to past-due accounts, facilitating timely payments and maintaining customer relationships. Inputs customer orders into the Onliant computer system with precision, ensuring all details are correct to avoid processing errors. Attends regular sales meetings to share insights, strategies, and updates with the sales team, contributing to overall team success. Provides assistance to the Customer Service Department during peak periods or in the absence of team members, ensuring that customer inquiries and issues are addressed promptly. May be required to deliver products to customers directly, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction with the purchase experience. Maintains the confidentiality of all internal Griffin information and communications, adhering to company policies unless otherwise directed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (K) Understanding of horticultural products, including plants, seeds, and gardening supplies. (K) Awareness of industry trends and best practices in sales and customer service. (S) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain customer relationships. (S) Proficient in using computer systems for order entry and reporting (experience with Onliant or similar systems preferred). (S) Ability to effectively demonstrate products and engage customers.
