About the position

Valley Health is seeking four Gastrointestinal (GI) Physicians to join a growing hospital-employed team at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for Gastroenterologists with solid clinical and surgical skills to work in an innovative and collaborative environment within an expanding program. Winchester Medical Center is a 495-bed regional referral center with a 120-year history serving a rural, three-state region. It is recognized as a Top of Virginia Magnet designated facility by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and has received a Leapfrog A Grade Rating for five consecutive years. The center is the region's only Level II Trauma Center, a Chest Pain Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a primary Stroke Center. Additionally, it has been named one of the country’s Most Wired health systems since 2015, reflecting its commitment to utilizing technology to improve patient care. The community surrounding Winchester Medical Center offers excellent public and private schools, making it an ideal place for families. It is home to Shenandoah University and provides a safe, engaging community life with easy access to local, state, and national parks, forests, hiking and biking trails, waterways, historical sites, and museums. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the field of gastroenterology.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans.
  • Participate in the education and training of medical students and residents.
  • Engage in community outreach and health education initiatives.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills in gastroenterology procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital-employed practice setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Interest in academic medicine and teaching.
