About the position

The Gift & Estate Valuation Associate at Withum is responsible for preparing valuation analyses primarily for gift and estate tax purposes, while also assisting with financial reporting and advisory valuations. This role requires a strong understanding of equity valuation methods and the ability to work with complex financial models. The position is based in one of Withum's U.S. office locations and follows a hybrid work schedule, emphasizing teamwork and client service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Preparing valuation analyses primarily for gift & estate tax purposes.
• Assisting on valuations for financial reporting and advisory purposes, including enterprise values and complex securities.
• Completing data entry of tax returns and financial statements into Excel models.
• Assisting in writing and preparing reports, letters, and other client deliverables.
• Reviewing third-party appraisals for audit support purposes.
• Performing macroeconomic and industry research.
• Reviewing various agreements and documents for modeling purposes and communicating key drivers.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of models using Excel and VBA.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, or similar quantitative discipline.
• 1-2 years relevant experience in performing gift & estate valuations.
• Understanding of equity valuation methods such as discounted cash flow and market multiples.
• Understanding of financial statements and business tax returns.
• Progress towards external designations such as CFA, CVA, CPA/ABV, or ASA is a plus.
• Strong interest in quantitative and economic analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.
• Ability to program in VBA and/or other statistical packages is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
