About the position

The Gift Planner will play a crucial role in advancing the planned giving program for Educational Media Foundation, focusing on building relationships with current and prospective donors to inspire new planned and major gifts. Reporting to the Manager of Planned Giving and Endowments, this position involves proactive outreach, donor cultivation, and strategic management of a gift planning portfolio to meet annual fundraising targets.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively contact donors and prospects daily via phone, email, and personal visits to build relationships and inspire planned and lifetime major gifts.
  • Develop and manage a gift planning portfolio strategy to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a large base of new leads for planned and endowment giving.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Planned Giving and Endowments, the Donor Community Manager, and colleagues in the Engagement department to educate donors and inspire planned gifts.
  • Meet annual targets for new bequests, planned gift commitments, and major endowment gifts ($50,000+) or pledges.
  • Maintain a contact management system to track and respond to prospect inquiries.
  • Stay current on gift planning trends and fundraising techniques.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education/training with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in fundraising or transferable skills in a Christian ministry.
  • Understanding of donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and planned giving options.
  • Proactive orientation toward one-on-one donor outreach.
  • Knowledge of planned giving techniques and experience in closing planned gifts.
  • Commitment to the organization's Christian mission.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is necessary; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations.
  • Collaborative and flexible style with a strong service mentality.
  • Ability to build relationships to inspire new planned gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for the mission and values.
