About the position

The Gift Processing Specialist at Lawrence University is responsible for managing all aspects of gift and pledge processing, ensuring the integrity of donor financial records. This role serves as the primary contact for processing donations, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional customer service to donors and staff. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, record, reconcile, and deposit funds related to gifts and pledges.
  • Assist with receipting and acknowledging gifts, including preparing gift receipts and acknowledgment letters.
  • Record and adjust pledges, and complete matching gift applications and follow-up procedures.
  • Create, maintain, and update electronic records on university constituents in the Banner database.
  • Generate daily transaction reports for internal reporting to the finance and development offices.
  • Deposit cash and checks with the university cashier and assist in monthly closing and reconciliation processes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in communications with donors and development staff regarding gifts and pledges.
  • Maintain data integrity in the database by updating demographic information and analyzing incoming information from various sources.
  • Develop and maintain written documentation related to gift, pledge, and credit card processing procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience or coursework in gift processing, bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or a related area.
  • Strong clerical skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Commitment to multicultural competency and interest in all dimensions of diversity.
