About the position
Sheridan County School District 2 is seeking a friendly, inspiring and committed basketball coach to join the Sheridan Junior High basketball team. The position is for the Girls Basketball Coach for the 7th & 8th Grade C Team at Sheridan Junior High School. The assistant coach will provide services to assist the head coach for their assigned position(s).
Responsibilities
- Help the head coach in choosing players for the team and assigning them to a position.
- Assist with tryouts and separate players into varsity and junior varsity teams based on skill, teamwork, and potential.
- Observe players in practice sessions to help determine starters and monitor improvement.
- Maintain a good knowledge of the sport being coached.
- Assist with paperwork and be knowledgeable about regulations.
- Build a good relationship with the team while remaining a leader.
- Encourage students working through injuries or academic challenges.
Requirements
- Obtain current endorsement through the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) prior to the start of coaching responsibilities.
- Maintain all appropriate certifications (CPR, First Aid) and immunizations.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience playing, coaching, or acting as a referee in basketball.
Benefits
- Stipend of $2,080 per season.
