About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as a coach for the Olympic Middle School girls basketball team. This seasonal position will require a commitment to the team and the ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the implementation of program policies and procedures, which align with the district's standard operating procedures for coaches.
  • Prioritizes sportsmanship, work ethic, organization, and communication with players, staff and the community.
  • Utilizes positive qualities such as enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and loyalty.
  • Always represents the program with the appropriate behavior and integrity while developing and maintaining production, positive, and professional relationships with staff, students, families, the community, and the program.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, families, staff, and the program.
  • Demonstrates support of the comprehensive athletic program.
  • Assists with the responsibility for care of equipment and facilities being used.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous, successful experience in sport as participant and/or coach preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Such other qualifications as set by the WIAA.
  • The ability to pass a federal background check.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and tact with all aspects of employment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, and the community.
  • Ability and willingness to be dynamic, energetic, motivated, and committed to developing a successful program.
  • Possession of strong leadership skills.
  • Ability and willingness to relate well to student-athletes and demonstrate care for them beyond the sport experience.
  • Possession of a deep understanding of track.
  • Strong communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals consistent with the duties of the position.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and willingness to promote a harassment-free environment.
  • Ability to learn and utilize office equipment, computers, and software especially as systems are upgraded.
  • Ability to learn and upgrade job skills to meet changing demands of the position.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrates initiative to act without being asked.
  • Ability to complete the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
