About the position
The Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Framingham Public Schools is responsible for providing direct training, instruction, and guidance to high school athletes in the sport of lacrosse. The coach will work to improve the performance and skills of team members, aligning with the school's high expectations for achievement. This part-time position emphasizes the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment for all students, while also promoting diversity and equity within the team and the broader school community.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct training and instruction to athletes in Girls Lacrosse.
- Help improve athletes' performance and skills.
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time for individual and team development.
- Advise and counsel athletes on nutrition, health, safety, and sports equipment usage.
- Assess and evaluate the performance of athletes during training and games.
- Follow established procedures for the care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Work with the athletic director to schedule facilities for practices and competitions.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Requirements
- Experience in playing and/or coaching for 2-4 years beyond graduating high school.
- Ability to train, supervise, guide, and instruct athletes.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of district requirements, state and federal laws, and school policies.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with high school students.
- Coaching certifications or relevant training.
