About the position

At Dollar General, the GIS Administration Manager plays a crucial role as a Geographic Information System (GIS) and Geo-Spatial subject matter expert. This position is responsible for the administration and architecture of the Enterprise Spatial Data Warehouse, which involves designing and implementing geospatial applications and functionalities. The GIS Administration Manager will manage and maintain all ArcGIS servers, geo-databases, tools, and map services. The role encompasses a variety of GIS projects, including new development initiatives, preparation and delivery of GIS information, analytics, and thematic/geospatial mapping requests. The GIS Administration Manager will support all GIS needs for department-specific applications, which may include projects such as company alignment mapping, competitive overlay mapping, distance-based analytics, and customer/consumer analytics. In addition to project management, the GIS Administration Manager will design and develop complex GIS databases, workflows, tools (via scripting), and map templates that enhance departmental and enterprise-wide GIS needs. This position also requires managing communications and implementation for data and system upgrades, desktop upgrades, and web application upgrades in collaboration with the internal IT department and software/data vendors. Troubleshooting for users of ArcGIS Online and web services to ensure optimal uptime and adherence to best practices is also a key responsibility. Continuous management, documentation, and analysis of departmental process flows are essential, along with making process improvement recommendations and creating automated technical solutions based on these recommendations.
