About the position
The GIS Analyst II position at Louisville Metro Government involves utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to analyze geographic data and provide insights for various applications. The role requires the maintenance and administration of GIS systems, the creation of digital maps and applications, and the provision of training and technical support to team members and clients. The analyst will work under limited supervision, reporting to a Team Leader or Supervisor, and will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy and compliance with standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer various GIS systems as needed.
- Utilize ArcGIS Desktop software and ArcGIS Online to produce digital maps, displays, and online applications.
- Prepare GIS layers, applications, and data sets for various departments.
- Create and update Metadata and maintain databases to ensure accuracy.
- Create ArcGIS online and mobile applications.
- Utilize Model Builder, Arcade, and Python to automate processes and build advanced layer configurations.
- Answer questions and provide information concerning GIS application programs and projects.
- Research solutions and develop technical competency through continuing education.
- Create training documentation and maintain standard operation procedures.
- Provide training on GIS related topics and procedures.
- Serve as technical lead and provide Quality Control to other GIS team members.
- Share technical knowledge and coordinate work activities with other GIS team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Cartography, Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or related discipline.
- Two years of experience in computer-aided mapping, design, drafting, or geographic information.
