About the position

The GIS Analyst III position at HGS, LLC is focused on executing GIS projects related to ecological restoration and water resource solutions within an ESRI enterprise system. The role involves consulting with project managers, developing workflows, providing support and training for GIS users, and leading the development of geospatial standards. The analyst will also manage GIS data, utilize various ESRI products, and perform advanced site suitability and project impact analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with project managers to develop solutions and workflows
  • Creates and implements SOP's for GIS workflows
  • Provides support, training and technical assistance for all GIS users
  • Leads the development and documentation of geospatial standards and best practices
  • Works closely with the Geospatial Manager to identify training and technical needs as well as create, implement, and maintain Geospatial departmental procedures
  • Creating, updating, managing, and sharing GIS data in web and desktop environments
  • Use and configure ESRI products, GPS units, various smart devices, and UAVs for field data collection, management, analysis, and visualization
  • Synthesize scientific and non-scientific data into maps and visuals for various reports, permit applications, land negotiations, meetings, and presentations
  • Perform advanced site suitability and project impact analysis
  • Quickly and efficiently, perform large scale site searches to identify potential sites for various ecological offsets
  • Automates complex tasks
  • Configures intuitive web-based solutions for use by non-GIS experts
  • Assists with Enterprise GIS management

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, or related field
  • Two or more years' experience with ArcGIS
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online, FieldMaps, QuickCapture, Survey123, and Story Maps
  • Knowledge of GIS software functionalities and deficiencies
  • Experience performing GIS analysis to solve complex problems across multiple domains using innovative solutions
  • Experience with geospatial data acquisition, manipulation, creation, integration, management, spatial analysis and modeling
  • Knowledge of terrain modeling and analysis

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, or related field
  • Five years working with GIS, ESRI's suite of products and remote sensing applications
  • Familiarity with and basic knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and permits/approvals (e.g. CWA 404/401, NWP/IP, NPDES, ESA)
  • Experience in developing with Python
  • Experience creating custom web applications using ESRI's app builders
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • UAS Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Knowledge of automation through FME, ModelBuilder, scripting, and/or API's
  • Understanding of remote sensing techniques and sensors; image processing, storage, and distribution
