About the position

The GIS Analyst/Specialist position at the NYCT - Department of Subways is a temporary role focused on providing critical geospatial support for Enterprise GIS projects and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) needs. The role involves both onsite and remote work, requiring collaboration with various departments to enhance workflows and ensure the effective use of GIS technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation, modification, and quality control of geospatial data for company-wide use.
  • Collaborate with other groups and departments to develop efficient workflows that align with Enterprise GIS goals.
  • Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation and training users.
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Develop and maintain technical and standard documentation for program development activities.
  • Maintain system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
  • Manage GIS data and develop ArcGIS Portal applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-9 years as a GIS Developer with a focus on creation and presentation of map-based applications.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in supporting ESRI GIS software, AGOL/Portal of ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' working knowledge in Railroad and/or Bus operation.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' hands-on experience with EAM (Enterprise Asset Management).
  • Experience with Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) and/or Esri's Roads and Highways.
  • Proven proficiency in GIS Fundamentals including JavaScript for GIS: ArcGIS JS API 3.x and JS API 4.x.
  • Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality.
  • Experience in desktop/mobile computer support and troubleshooting software-related problems.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills in relating technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with FME, extract transform, and load (ETL) software produced by Safe.
  • Experience integrating and interfacing ESRI with existing enterprise systems.
