The GIS Analyst position with the City of Pittsburgh is a full-time role focused on designing, maintaining, and producing both digital and hardcopy map images. The analyst will provide complex data analysis from multiple data sources and ensure that geographic information system (GIS) databases adhere to established data standards. This position is part of the Innovation and Performance Department and offers a salary of $65,170 per year. The GIS Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks including designing and producing maps for both internal employees and the public, maintaining an inventory of maps, and editing and updating GIS data sets. The analyst will also set standards and best practices for GIS operations, research and prepare graphics and reports for publication, and write and debug complex programs and applications using various tools. Additionally, the role involves creating and updating addresses for citizens, constructing and updating 3D models, and automating GIS-related functions. Fieldwork data collection is also a component of this position, along with the development of citywide GIS databases and the production of GIS-related documentation and metadata. Candidates must meet specific requirements to qualify for this position, including a valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and at least one year of full-time experience in operating Geographic Information Systems.
