About the position

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for analyzing GIS data, developing solutions for data integration and transformation, and providing technical support and database maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of GIS workflows and processes to meet the needs of internal and external customers. The analyst will engage in project work focused on process improvement, quality control, and data management, utilizing various GIS tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of current data state, workflows, and processes.
• Perform GIS data analysis and data mining activities to meet customer requirements.
• Provide specialized queries, maps, and reports to meet specifications.
• Conduct application testing and document defects.
• Interface with Information Services GIS Support group and represent user issues.
• Document requested changes from users and maintain communication.
• Perform weekly analysis on mission-critical GIS data to ensure data integrity.
• Develop methods for quality assurance and quality control on GIS and non-spatial data.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert on GIS projects and workshops.
• Identify training requirements and create procedural documentation.
• Research and identify new GIS technologies and processes to improve departmental functions.
• Use automated processes with Model Builder and Python scripting to enhance efficiency.
• Process and convert data from various formats into GIS.
• Analyze current business processes and recommend best practice solutions.

Requirements

• Experience with Esri geodatabase design, structure, and management.
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Thorough understanding of Esri ArcGIS products including ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcMap, and ArcSDE.
• Knowledge of batch files and Python scripts for automation.
• Ability to learn new database technologies and scripting quickly.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of publishing with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
• Experience with Natural Gas Utility and Enterprise databases.
• Experience using Esri Data Reviewer and Workflow Manager Extensions.
• Experience converting data between CAD and GIS.
• Development experience using Python, FME, and/or Esri ModelBuilder.
• Understanding of current GIS industry trends.
