About The Position

The GIS Analyst at HDR will be responsible for developing and implementing geospatial solutions for transportation clients and projects. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with a diverse team of professionals, including engineers and environmental scientists. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of GIS, particularly with Esri software, and will be passionate about research and problem-solving in the GIS field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in a relevant field may offset the required years of experience.
  • Proficient in the use of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS extensions e.g., 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Working knowledge of interoperability tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-6 years practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field may offset 3 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with Esri Desktop ArcGIS software (Desktop and Pro), scripting and extensions (ModelBuilder, Python, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Linear Referencing, etc.).
  • Extensive experience in map generation and data visualization.
  • Extensive experience with ArcGIS Online platform and associated products such as Experience Builder, Story Maps, Field Maps, and Survey 123.
  • Expertise with developing Geodatabases and schemas (domains, subtypes), Access/SQL and other databases.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • Highly responsive to requests from clients.
  • GISP Certification is a plus.
  • Esri Certification is a plus.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator or related graphic software for enhancing quality of GIS maps.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal for ArcGIS Server preferred.
  • Experience in Environmental Planning, Routing/Siting and/or ROW Acquisitions/Parcel Management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct advanced spatial analyses using ArcGIS software from Esri.
  • Work with project managers and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on transportation planning projects.
  • Develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python, or other GIS scripting languages.
  • Develop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals.
  • Develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Story Maps, Collector, and Survey 123 within ArcGIS Online platform.
  • Create maps, databases, and other deliverables on short notice.
  • Communicate and collaborate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical.
  • Perform quality control checks.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
